Sleep Noise / Sleep Noise Tracks

Privacy policy

How we handle your information when you use our sound app and this website, and the choices available to you.

Effective date:

At a glance

  • You do not need an app account. Recordings and listening history are stored on your device; the app does not upload your recording audio.
  • The app uses Firebase Analytics. Playback events include track titles, including names you give your own recordings.
  • The free app uses advertising services. Premium removes ads but does not turn off analytics.
  • Privacy enquiries: lbrindley@fendorio.uk.

Who we are

Fendorio Ltd, based in England, United Kingdom, operates Sleep Noise on Android and Sleep Noise Tracks on iOS (together, the “app”). This policy also covers our privacy policy website. References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean Fendorio Ltd.

We are the controller of personal information we process to operate the app and respond to you. Some providers also process information for their own purposes, as explained in their privacy policies below.

Information on your device

The app stores the following information locally to provide its features:

  • Your recordings: audio files, the names you enter, file references, and creation or update dates.
  • Your library and listening history: favourites, unlocked sounds, tracks played, and session start and finish times.
  • Playback preferences: your last selected track and preferred timer duration.
  • Review-prompt information: days you opened the app, whether listening activity qualifies for a review prompt, and when a prompt was attempted for an app version.
  • Premium status: a cached record of your entitlement and a store transaction identifier used to recognise the purchase.

The app asks for microphone permission when you use the recorder. You can refuse or revoke this permission in your device settings and continue using bundled sounds. The app does not upload recording audio to Fendorio or our analytics or advertising services. It does not provide an account-based recording backup or synchronisation service.

Recording names are different from recording audio: a name you enter is included in analytics when that recording is played or stopped. Please avoid including personal or sensitive information in recording names. Your operating system may also back up some app files; see retention and deletion.

App analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand feature usage and improve the app. The app sends events when a track starts or stops, a recording is saved, a review prompt is attempted, and during premium offer, purchase and restore flows. Purchase-flow events include outcomes such as restore results.

Playback events include the track title. This includes user-entered names of custom recordings. Saving a recording generates an event without its name or audio. We do not send the local listening-history database or recording audio to Analytics.

The Analytics software also collects information such as app-instance identifiers, app interactions, app version, device and operating-system details, language and approximate geographical information. It can also collect advertising or vendor identifiers depending on your platform, permissions and settings. Additional collection depends on Google's service configuration. See Google's explanation of Analytics data collection and the Google Privacy Policy.

The current app does not include a separate analytics switch. Its advertising privacy choices and premium upgrade do not turn off Firebase Analytics. You can contact us about analytics information and your rights as described below.

Advertising and your choices

The free app uses Google AdMob for banner and rewarded advertising, with Pangle available as a mediation partner. Rewarded ads can unlock sounds. Which provider serves an ad depends on availability, region, configuration and your choices.

Advertising providers may process IP addresses, advertising and other device identifiers, device and app details, approximate location, ad views and clicks, and diagnostic or performance information. They use this information to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and, where permitted, personalise advertising. The app does not request precise GPS location or give advertising partners your recording audio.

The app uses Google's consent-management service before requesting ads when required by that service. Where available, you can reopen the form using Privacy choices in the sound library. The app applies privacy signals to Pangle and checks advertising preferences again when returning from the background. Available options vary by region.

On iOS, you can manage tracking permission in the device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, your device's privacy or ads settings may let you reset or delete your advertising identifier. Refusing personalised advertising or tracking does not necessarily stop all ads or all information processing: contextual advertising, measurement and fraud prevention may still involve data.

Premium disables new advertising requests while your premium entitlement is active. It does not erase information already received by advertising providers. In some jurisdictions, sharing identifiers for advertising may be considered a “sale”, “sharing” or targeted advertising under local law. Use the privacy options available to you or contact us to exercise applicable rights.

Read the Google advertising privacy information and Pangle's regional controllers and end-user privacy policies for provider-specific details.

Purchases and store reviews

Apple's App Store or Google Play processes your premium payment. The app receives purchase information, including the product, transaction identifier and purchase status, to check ownership, finish the transaction and restore access. The app stores a local entitlement record and transaction identifier. We do not receive your payment-card details through the app, and we do not operate our own purchase-verification server.

Our application analytics events for purchases do not include receipts, purchase tokens, transaction identifiers or store-account details. Apple and Google keep their own purchase records and may provide sales reports to us under their store services.

If you choose to leave a review, Apple or Google handles the review through its store interface. The app cannot read the rating or review you submit through that prompt. We record that a review request was attempted, not what you wrote.

See the Apple Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.

This website and contacting us

This website contains no advertising, analytics scripts, cookies set by us, embedded third-party content or contact form. Its styles and images are served with the page. Following an external link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.

Google Firebase Hosting serves the website and processes visitor IP addresses to operate the service, detect abuse and analyse service usage. Google states that Hosting retains IP data for a few months. See Firebase's privacy and security information.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever information you include. We use it to respond, handle privacy requests and keep relevant correspondence. Please do not send recordings or sensitive information unless needed for your enquiry.

Sharing and international processing

The providers described above receive information needed for analytics, advertising, hosting and store purchases. They may use service providers and, for advertising, other advertising participants under their respective policies. Email service providers process correspondence when you contact us. We may also disclose information where necessary to meet a legal obligation or establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

These services operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States and other countries where providers operate. Their privacy policies explain their locations and transfer arrangements.

Where UK or European law restricts a transfer, it requires an appropriate mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. The mechanism depends on the provider and destination. You can contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your information. Do not assume that app analytics or advertising information is stored only in the UK.

Retention and deletion

Data on your device

Recordings, listening history and preferences are kept in the app's local storage until removed or the app's data is cleared. Review-prompt records and premium status are also retained locally for their respective features. Deleting a custom recording removes its library entry and associated local listening history, and the app attempts to delete the audio file. A file can remain if device storage operations fail.

To remove all local app data, use your operating system's app-data deletion option where available, or delete the app. Offloading an app is different from deleting its data. Device backups may retain copies or restore data after reinstallation: Android backup is enabled, and iOS recordings may be included in device backups. Manage backups separately through Apple or Google. The iOS app normally excludes its local database directory from backup.

Information already sent to providers

Deleting a recording, clearing app data or buying premium does not automatically delete analytics, advertising or store records already received by providers. Analytics retention depends on the property settings and the type of data, including whether it is event-level or aggregated reporting. Advertising and store providers apply their own retention rules for service delivery, fraud prevention and legal obligations; their policies are linked above.

We keep support and privacy correspondence for as long as needed to resolve the enquiry, document our response and meet applicable legal requirements. Retention depends on the nature of the request and any ongoing dispute or obligation. Contact us to ask about retention or request deletion of information we hold. We may need additional information to identify the relevant records; we cannot identify every app installation from an email address alone.

Security

Local app data relies on your device's operating-system protections. The policy website is delivered over HTTPS when hosted on Firebase. Our external providers operate their own security controls. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Protect your device and store accounts, and consider who can access recordings or device backups.

Adults and children

The app is intended to be operated by adults, including parents and carers playing sounds for babies. It is not intended for children to use independently. We do not ask you to create a child profile or provide a child's name, date of birth or health information.

A recording can contain another person's voice, and its name can contain personal information if you enter it. Recording audio stays in local app storage, subject to device backups, but recording names are included in playback analytics. Avoid entering children's personal information in recording names. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us.

Your rights and how to contact us

Depending on where you live and the processing involved, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of your personal information, correct it, request deletion, restrict processing, request portability, object to processing or withdraw consent. These rights have conditions and exceptions. You may also have rights concerning targeted advertising or sharing of personal information under local law.

To make a request or ask a question, contact:

Fendorio Ltd
England, United Kingdom

lbrindley@fendorio.uk

Tell us which app and platform you use and what you would like us to do. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity or locate records. We cannot remotely access recordings held only on your device. For information a provider controls independently, you can also use the request channels in its privacy policy.

You may complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) through its complaints service, or to your local data-protection authority. The ICO also explains your information rights.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, our providers or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy here with an updated effective date and provide additional notice or obtain consent where required.
